HECATOMBAION
Hecatombaion is the first month of the Athenian year. It begins on the first day of the new moon after the summer solstice. There was a festival called Hecatombaia in early times during this month, dedicated to Apollo.

Hecatombaion 28 July 19 Panathenaea, to Athena. The most important annual festival in Athens, with a greater festival every fourth year. Evidence is fragmentary, but the Panathenea may have occupied the entire period from Hecatombaion 23 through Hecatombaion 30.
